It looks like Season Two of Russian Doll will see Natasha Lyonne travelin’ on a time train (er, subway) to the 1980s, among other places in time and space.
That’s what we can glean for the show’s new trailer, at least. It also looks like the show, which Lyonne co-created with Amy Poehler and Leslye Headland, isn’t easing up on its mind-bending, time-twisting qualities.
In Season One, Nadia (Lyonne) and Alan (Charlie Bennett) were stuck in a death loop that had them reliving (and subsequently redying) the same day over and over. Season Two appears to have Nadia and Alan moving on from repeated deaths to traveling to the past, specifically the 1980s (although one shot from the trailer has Nadia on a train that looks like it’s in World War II).
The trailer also hints that Alan and Nadia might be looking for some gold lost on a train at two points in time? I dunno, but if it’s anything like the first season, I can’t wait to watch and go with them on what’s sure to be a very trippy ride.
In addition to Lyonne and Bennet, Season Two of Russian Doll sees the return of Greta Lee, Rebecca Henderson, and Elizabeth Ashley. Newcomers Annie Murphy, Carolyn Michelle Smith, and Sharlto Copley have also joined the cast.
The second season drops on Netflix on April 20th, giving you a couple of weeks to (re)watch Season One and get your mind thoroughly scrambled.
